Security and Improvements at the Bhotechaur
Clinic
Clinic Security Wall and Other Improvements,
2006.
In 2006 the Bhotechaur Health Clinic management
committee requested assistance to increase security and make
some modest improvements in their facility. A grant proposal
was developed and submitted by the Rogue Gateway Rotary Club
to Rotary District 5110 as a Rotary District matching grant.
The District Committee voted to approve the grant which provided
matching funds from the District level, which were matched
again at the level of Rotary International. The resulting
grant was sufficient to fund the specific elements requested
by the clinic management committee: 1) a security wall around
the clinic to clearly demarcate and protect the facility,
2) a generator to provide reliable electricity, 3) a computer
to manage patient records, 4) some instruments for minor surgery,
and 5) a motorbike to provide transportation for the doctor
who was making weekly trips from Kathmandu.
This project has been shepherded in Nepal by
the Kathmandu Rotary club, which had already cooperated on
the clinic renovation project. In Grants Pass, Rotarian and
Bright Futures Board member, Jill Gleysteen has worked tirelessly
to help with the coordination of accounting, grant administration
and reporting.
